"From Batpod to Batwing for Batman 3"

Orlando Florida - A Florida based custom motorcycle builder that made headlines a few weeks back after building a full size working "Batpod" may be working on more "Bat" projects, this time for Hollywood. The "Batpod" build garnered over 35,000 hits within a few days on Ebay, but also got the attention of Warner Bros. themselves. "We were asked to remove the Batpod as it too closely resembled the real Batpod from the movie." Marc Parker, co-owner of Parker Brothers Choppers, told us.

However, in a twist of fate, Warner Bros. may have in fact actually appreciated the work that the brothers did. Rumors are flying everywhere about a possible "Batwing" (Batman's airplane of choice) being built in the Parker Brothers shop for the next installment of Chris Nolan's Batman movies which, as of this writing, is being called "Batman 3" which begins shooting in March 2011.

We thought we would go to Melbourne Florida and find out from the Parker Brothers themselves if there was any truth to this rumor. We entered a shop full of people moving things around and we spied what looked like fiberglass "parts" for something that was being worked on in the former Choppers Inc. building. People quickly scattered through the swinging red doors that abviously lead to another area, but we were not invited into the back for a closer look. When asked for a confirmation on the possiblity of a "Batwing" project, Parker, proudly leaning on his replica "Batpod", had this to say, "We welcome to opportunity to participate on any new Batman vehicles be it the Batwing or the new Batmobile for the next movie. We would love to be a part of the process, however, at this point we cannot confirm or deny the rumors as we would not want to jeopardize any possible involvement."

With the recent Florida Today article on the Parker Brothers new shop and the buzz surrounding Batman 3, this may not be the last we hear of these guys. While the builders seem like true batman fans at heart, they were tight lipped about their "projects" on our visit. It looks like we may have to wait a bit longer to see if the Batwing will fly.

  1. I can't wait for Batman 3 and hopefully a new batmobile. Did anyone notice the way they said " the new batmobile" like it was a sure thing? Batwing or Batmobile, just please don't camp it up and we will be fine.
